A new anthem for our resistance movement
I’ve been working on this piece for a number of months now, but very much so over the past week or so as it came towards the finish line. I wanted to get it out before the election so was up until the early hours with the help of my life long musical soulmate Jay who I have played in bands with since the age of 14, he is someone who I couldn’t have done this project without. With his outstanding production skills and as ever enviable lead guitar sound the end product turned out so much richer. A wonderfully dynamic and creative guitar solo lifts the song at the key change.
We also got the old band back together for this one and rolled back the years. I want to thank Ros for his incredible drumming, and Gus for his phenomenal bass playing, you two were always the bedrock of our band sitting in behind, keeping the rhythm water tight and on point. Keeping it simple when and where necessary but also throwing in the flair when the song needs a lift. A band is only as good as it’s rhythm section and you both brought your skills to the fore here.
Thanks also to John for your effortless virtuosity on the fiddle, layering the sound up with cello, first and second violins and viola. It took a lot of work to get to the finished product but I’m so grateful to you all, it’s such a privilege to be friends with such world class musicians. I’m so indebted to you all for giving to me for free what I would otherwise need to pay thousands for with sessions musicians who I could never achieve the same level of chemistry with.
A big thanks to Dan also who mastered the tracks all the way from Australia. One of Dublin’s top dance DJ’s for years also has a massive flair for the production. I am enormously grateful to you all for helping this project come to life.
This is an anthem of defiance for every Irish nationalist to adopt as their own. We need more than ever a rallying point through song due to the embarrassment on offer from our so called established bards. They have not stood with us through any of this, so we need to do it ourselves. With the election on the horizon, I urge any and all candidates who are running on a nationalist ticket to use this song.
I’m giving you my permission to use this psychic nuclear warhead as you see fit. Use it freely. Use it at the doors on your last week of canvassing. Blare it from your car radios. If you get elected, play it at the count centre with your tricolour held high in celebration and never, ever let them forget, that Ireland is Irish!
Thanks 🙏🏻
That is beautful. The line about the Roma soiling the spot were O'Rallagh died writing his last love letter to his wife really got me. That should be sacred land and not the dump Sinn Fein have made it.
